a little dirt never hurt anybody

Such sad tears on such sweet checks. She was just whining at me to hold her. This child would be perfectly content if I just held her all day.

What a pretty crier.

Eliana had her first dirt clot today. How exciting! Well, when I showed Alex the pictures, and told him it was dirt not chocolate as he thought, he was like "Why did you feed her dirt?!"
Oh yes, I fed it to her. Shoveled it in by the spoonful. I mean please.
She puts absolutely EVERYTHING she comes in contact with in that little mouth.

Dear Alex,

Apparently you're way behind on the life and times of modern mothers. Feeding children--especially babies!--things like dirt and rocks and, when it can be found, crap off the floor is all the rage. Occasionally we mothers even sit our children in their highchairs and provide them with bowls of dirty coins to gnaw on. It helps with teething.

Love,
Summer

Aw, she's even cute with mud in her mouth! I'm sure she got some nutrients from it-- there was probably more iron in there than in a whole pound of spinach...

i love it when kids eat dirt. Yes, it grosses me out a little bit, but it's not gonna kill them. My nephew ate little pieces of the rubber stuff they have on playgrounds now. Well, he chewed on it for a while, anyway. now that is disgusting. Maybe we should just be glad they are trying to improve their immune system.
