a castle for princesses...

I saw the cutest idea for making a cardboard box castle last week, and wanted to do it ALL week so that Trinity would have something to keep her busy during spring break.  But, life happened.  And 2 sick kids.  Yesterday I Snagged a couple boxes from work, and picked up some fake flowers and extra glue sticks from the dollar store this morning and we finally got around to making our fab Rapunzel-Esq castle today!

The girls we great helping paint everything.  Here they are working on the front door.

and they are super Excited about it!

Of course, a princess castle wouldn't be complete without pink floors!!  And I had to sew up a couple barbie beds and pillows. :)

TA DA!  The finshed product!

I think it turned out awesome!  My girls are in heaven playing with their barbies in there, and I am in heaven listening to them laugh with each other and using their imaginations.  And, I totally feel like I scored some serious cool mom points.  I really need to do more fun things with my kids, they're great.

I totally recommend this for a fun and CHEAP activity.  I only spent $3 on this project.  Most of the materials are things I already had at home and you can always get free boxes!

happenings of late...

We enjoyed another wonderful Christmas.  My favorite picture from Christmas is the one where Trinity is putting lipstick on Eliana and touching it up with her finger (first collage, bottom left). It's such serious sister business. :)

We enjoyed the first real snow of the season.  It was freezing cold for over a week, and my girls surprised me and played outside every day.  For long periods.  We enjoyed lots of hot chocolate afterward.  Our favorite is Abuelita.  It can be found in the Mexican section at your local grocery store, and it's heated on the stove with milk, and it's yummy!  Another treat of the freezing cold-- our pipes were frozen for 4 days.  But by some stroke of luck, we had cold water in the bathrooms.  We were able to flush toilets and wash our hands, which made it much more endurable.  I washed dishes and bathed the kids pioneer style (heated water on the stove, so I guess more modern pioneer) and Alex and I showered at my mom's.  Good times.

I tried to start Cruz on rice cereal a few weeks ago.

He was not a big fan.

I started a new journal of sorts.   Both of my sister have one too.  I think it's a great way to keep track of bits and pieces over the next 5 years.

Our sweet girls have given us many concerts.  I hope that maybe this year they will get to sing together in church :)

And our Cruzy just keeps getting cuter and cuter every day!  He's rolling over-- when he feels like it, and is almost sitting up.  I can't believe how fast they grow up!  It makes me need to squeeze him extra hard everyday to savor it.

Life is truly great.

I love his,

Succulent baby thighs.

his squishy arms.

hair, and how it sticks up all by itself.

birth mark.  It's in the lower left corner of his mouth.  It looks like a smudge of chocolate or something. :)

Big, fat, squishy cheeks.  They are excellent for kissing!

He's such a delicious baby and gets chubbier and cuter every day!

And him?  He only loves me for my big boobs.

hairstyles for long thick hair

long hair haircuts

longer hair.

It's been 3 years since I ditched my long locks and I want them back.  I've loved my short hair and I'm sure we'll reunite someday, but right now I'm ready for a change.  Now for the dreaded process of growing my hair out... til then, I'm dreaming of sexy ponytails and long layers...

Carving pumpkins!

Elli tried to carve one of our little ones, cuz "it's just my sizes!"

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween!  And feel free to come to my house and take all our candy.  I've had far to much that my head feels fuzzy...

a couple Elli-isms

Yesterday was a cold, cloudy day, so we got to test out newly installed wood stove.
Elli said, "I'm not freezing my buns off, I'm warming my buns off!"

Elli also has little stomach bug.  After using the restroom she said, "It's like brown ketchup!"

The things this kid comes up with!  We sure love her and life she brings to our home.
